Course Description

This hands-on course provides a practical review of disentanglement tactics used when a person becomes injured, trapped, or entangled in machinery or mechanical equipment. Students will review incident size-up, hazard recognition, machinery stabilization, power isolation, patient protection, tool selection, and coordinated disentanglement operations. Through realistic scenarios, students will reinforce the disciplined and methodical approach necessary to safely free patients while preventing further injury. Emphasis will be placed on working closely with emergency medical personnel, protecting the patient throughout the operation, and adapting rescue techniques to a variety of machinery-related emergencies.
