Rescue Weekend 2026: A Career in Review Lecture
Saturday October 10th 2026 Presented by Jeff Eckert, a 27-year veteran of the fire service with 20 years of experience in the Philadelphia Fire Department and currently assigned to Squad Company 72. “A Career in Review” offers an honest look at the experiences, challenges, defining incidents, and hard-earned lessons that shape a career in the fire service. Through real-world stories and professional insight, Jeff will discuss leadership, decision-making, teamwork, resilience, and the responsibility firefighters carry throughout their careers. Attendees will leave with practical lessons that can be applied in the firehouse, on the incident scene, and throughout their own professional development.

RegisterRescue Weekend 2026: Man In Machine
This hands-on course provides a practical review of disentanglement tactics used when a person becomes injured, trapped, or entangled in machinery or mechanical equipment. Students will review incident size-up, hazard recognition, machinery stabilization, power isolation, patient protection, tool selection, and coordinated disentanglement operations. Through realistic scenarios, students will reinforce the disciplined and methodical approach necessary to safely free patients while preventing further injury. Emphasis will be placed on working closely with emergency medical personnel, protecting the patient throughout the operation, and adapting rescue techniques to a variety of machinery-related emergencies.

RegisterRescue Weekend 2026: Motor Vehicle Extrication Operations
This 16-hour course prepares students to operate safely and effectively at motor vehicle collisions requiring extrication. Students will perform incident size-up and hazard assessment, establish a safe working area, stabilize vehicles, create access and egress points, and assist with patient disentanglement and removal. Hands-on evolutions will reinforce the safe use of hand, hydraulic, pneumatic, and powered rescue tools. Students will also address common vehicle hazards, including undeployed airbags, fuel leaks, electrical systems, alternative-fuel vehicles, and changing vehicle construction. Emphasis will be placed on coordinated operations, patient protection, and effective teamwork throughout the extrication process.

Designed for experienced rescue personnel, this advanced 16-hour course challenges students with complex motor vehicle extrication and disentanglement scenarios involving passenger and commercial vehicles. Students will perform advanced stabilization, lifting, moving, access, and disentanglement operations using hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and specialized rescue equipment. Practical evolutions may include vehicles positioned on their sides or roofs, vehicles resting on other objects, and incidents requiring coordinated multi-point lifting and movement. The course emphasizes technical problem-solving, patient-centered rescue operations, team coordination, and the safe management of complex extrication incidents.

RegisterRescue Weekend 2026: Structural Collapse Operations
This 16-hour course prepares responders to operate safely at light-frame structural collapse incidents. Students will conduct incident size-up and hazard assessment, establish operational zones, recognize collapse indicators, coordinate resources, and work within an organized incident management structure. Hands-on training will introduce students to structural stabilization using cribbing and shoring systems, victim search and removal, breaching techniques, and basic lifting and moving operations. Emphasis will be placed on responder safety, team coordination, continuous hazard monitoring, and completing assigned rescue functions within the scope of an operations-level responder.
